Hello from Topsail Beach! Only two days have passed since the 63 lb NC state record striped bass record was caught near Oregon Inlet, another angler is claiming an even bigger striper caught in essentially the same location. On Friday, Jan 7 2011 angler Keith Angel, fishing aboard the 42 foot "Poacher" of Poacher Sportfisher Charters landed the potential new state record. The monster striper measured 54 3/4 inches in length and had a girth of 33 1/2 inches. We will be waiting for the official certified scales weight. Official or not, it's a big fish!
