Hello from Surf City! Here is the latest Rod-Man Fishing Report.
Hi Folks, Is it hot or what? Fishing is surprisingly hot considering the temperatures. We have been catching some nice flounder and redfish inshore. Near shore the shark action has been great and offshore sailfish have been biting like “the old days”. Now here’s my report:
Inshore: Flounder fishing has definitely gotten into swing with 4+ pound fish very common. Reds are plentiful on the falling tide. A few trout are being caught as well on the incoming tide near the inlets and in the river.
Near shore: Shark action has been great. Spanish have been on again and off again; just like they have been all year. Plenty of ‘cudas around to steal your fish or hit your bait. Some jack crevalle have been hanging at the artificial reefs.
Offshore: Sailfish have been on fire from 4 miles to 25 miles hitting ballyhoo. Kings and mahi are biting from 10 to 25 miles out on cigars, live bait and ballyhoo.
Gulfstream: The wahoo bite has been fairly strong. Big mahi and big kings have been biting as well.
The Rod-Man Fishing School schedule for 2008 is now up on my website. You may view details at http://www.rodmancharters.com/2008-annual-fishing-school.htm We are very excited to once again offer the school in Raleigh as well as Wilmington. In Raleigh we will be at the Gov. Martin Building at the State Fairgrounds and in Wilmington we will again be at the UNCW Executive Development Center. In 2008 we will have a several new and exciting speakers, including a well known captain from the Morehead City area and marine electronics specialist, Performance Marine out of Wilmington. Please check out the information on the site. These will be our best schools ever and we hope to see you there.

That being said, there is a lot more fishing to do this season. So as I always say…………….
