Surf City Fishing Pier Opening Today
Today was the 2014 opening day at Surf City Fishing Pier. The gates opened at 6am. Unfortunately, I didn't arrive until after 8am. But the first sea mullet had not been caught. I was there in search of the season bottom fishing pass sea mullet. There were a few skates, rays, and several puffers pulled over the rail. But as I left the pier at about noon, the elusive sea mullet was still in the water. I will be back in the morning trying again. The weather was beautiful and warm, perfect day for fishing. There were many anglers chasing the prize. All were having a great time, even with fishing not as good as I had hoped. The water is still in the mid 50's so needs to warm up a bit to pull the fish in. The Surf City Pier Grill (click here for menu) hasn't opened, so that tasty "pier hot dog" will have to wait. (PS best hot dogs ever!)
All in all, it was a great day on the pier. If you can make it to the coast, see you there! The free 2014 season fishing pass may still be available.
Till next time....
Tight lines!
