Bernice Reece, AKA Miss Lee

Bernice Reece, AKA Miss Lee, with four of her great-grandchildren.

I am sorry to report that Donna's mom, Bernice Reece, locally know as Miss Lee, passed away in the early morning hours of December 29. She led a long (84 years) and blessed life. She had been in failing health for a year, but was doing well. Her death was a complete surprise. Until last December, (2006), when she became ill, Miss Lee worked as a cashier at Batt's Grill in Surf City. Before that she worked as a cashier at One Stop Restaurant.

Donna's dad, Lee Reece who passed away in 1995 worked at the old East Coast Tackle for many years and was knows to the locals as Mr. Lee. As his vision started failing, Bernice would go sit with him at the cash register, and help him read the prices and such. Folks would call them Mr. Lee and Miss Lee. That's how she came to be known as Miss Lee.

Thanks for your concern and especially your prayers. Her death will be hard on Donna, especially after all the family leave and we are left in the house without her. Prayers for her and other family and friends are appreciated. She will be missed.
